Thursday, June 15 at 4:00 PM at Imagewest offices in MMTH 331
Everyone knows that a resume can make or break your chances to get the job you want and take your career to the next level. Considering this, it’s crazy how many students don’t put any thought into making their own resume look good for employers. It isn’t hard; you just need to know what factors to consider and what your employers are looking for.
We can help. Imagewest is hosting a resume workshop on Thursday, June 15 at 4:00 PM at Imagewest offices in MMTH. We’ll be discussing how to think critically about what you put on your resume and how you present it.
If you have never written a resume before, this is for you; we be going over all of the essential parts of a stellar resume and proven strategies that can make you stand a head above fellow applicants, simply based off how you share your skills.
If you have written a resume before, then this is still a great opportunity. Just make sure you bring a copy of your resume so we can break down what’s working and what could work even better. Sometimes, just finding a way to reframe the information that’s already there in a new light can turn a throwaway bullet point into an impressive highlight.
Yes, there will be cupcakes and drinks, because there are always cupcakes and drinks at this sort of thing, but you shouldn’t come just for a promised sugar rush to get you through the day. You’ll be fine-tuning and tweaking your resume for your entire career; it might be the most important document you ever work on. As your first impression to the employer who holds the keys to your dream job, it’s worth putting in the time to learn every strategy and make sure that it spotlights all of the skills that make you a perfect fit for the position.
While this sort of information is invaluable, it doesn’t have to be presented with this somber sense of gravitas that one might expect from a career workshop. Imagewest is the spoonful of sugar that helps this medicine go down. We have a professional yet friendly environment and know that everyone still has something to learn, so you should expect welcoming faces and smiles. And if the metaphorical sugar isn’t enough, we must reiterate: there will be cupcakes and drinks.
This is the kind of info you need to succeed: you owe it to yourself to learn how to make sure employers see all of the skills and talents you have through your resume. Make an investment that will stay with you for your entire career.
